13B Season Report
There was no doubt that our 13B’s had a tough year in 2022, but the manner in which they finished the year, was a testament to all the boys and their hard work during the season.
At one point I think we had 19 players set to form the squad, that then dropped to something like 9 and we ended up 14 boys; a combination of the two squads from the earlier season.
To the boy’s credit, they battled hard all year and we had some really tight games and good results. We had our wins, we did cop a couple of floggings, but my highlight was taking it to the much more fancied (in their head particularly) Magpies in the final round. It showed such a level of resilience and grit, particularly as they were one of the teams that served out a flogging earlier in the season. We most certainly surprised the life out of them.
The washed out games throughout the year were a massive frustration. Any momentum gathered, was regularly washed away by the rain plus we missed a few games where I really fancied our chances. I know all teams had to deal with this, but our boys trained really well during the season and missing so many sessions disrupted everyone’s development and fitness.
Regardless of the results that 2022 saw, we had a great bunch of lads that did us all proud. They supported each other during the season and I’d like to think that they enjoyed themselves; if their antics at training was anything to go by!
Massive thanks for Muzz for his involvement with the boys this season, there is no way I could have controlled these lunatics week in and week out by myself! Thanks also to Darren and Greg for helping out and as always, a huge thank you to Deb for ensuring the season ran with military precision!
Thanks to all the parents, grandparent and siblings who supported every week. We definitely had the loudest and most passionate cheer squad.
Finally thanks to our boys for their efforts and for allowing Murray and I to take you through the season. I’ll continue to focus on that final game where I genuinely believe that the boys really showed how far they came throughout a tough year. Well done boys, you should all be proud of your efforts!
Go The Eagles!
