What an amazing season the boys of 9C have had this year. A few hiccups along the way thanks to COVID once again but eventually they found their groove and played some great soccer along the way.

Firstly, a big thank you to our amazing manager Savy for keeping us organised and making sure we knew where and when to be each Saturday morning. Quite possibly the world’s best manager and we couldn’t have done it without you.

A big thank you to Nicole for helping with training and game day if I couldn’t be there.

A huge thanks to all the parents and grandparents for all your support and commitment throughout the season making sure the boys get to training and the games. You are the backbones of sporting teams and whilst I know the kids don’t fully appreciate what you’ve done ……. yet! I want you to know how much you are appreciated for all the early morning starts, cold evenings and supportive cheering from the sidelines, it goes a long way to help the boys.

We had some highs and some lows, plenty of wins, a few draws and some losses and I think we finished in the top 4. A great achievement.

It was so much fun coaching the boys this season and being part of their journey in the awesome game of soccer. They are a great bunch of kids with enthusiasm, heart, and love of the game. I hope they have enjoyed this season and continue with soccer next season.

Charlie: you are a great all-rounder! You have a great understanding of the game. You are cool, calm, and collected in whatever position you find yourself in and you always gave your best, no matter the score!

Tate L: you improved out of sight over the season and your kicking skills grew. You were always solid and reliable in defence and have one helluva boot kiddo!

Tate M: you wore your heart on your sleeve buddy and were so passionate about the game. I could feel your frustration when the ball didn’t quite make the back of the net. You’re a great little player!

Beau: what a pocket rocket! Zipping all over the place getting to those tricky balls with ease! You are fast and determined and never gave up! You fought for every ball in every tackle always giving 110%!

Aidan: you managed to always get to where you needed to be and where the team needed you! You’d adjust to any position or situation you face and always did it with a smile on your face. Managing to keep the attacking team on their toes!

Bailey: being the coach’s son is always tough, and you had to prove yourself from the get-go! You had speed and power on your side, chasing down the tackles and keeping the oppositions scores down! You always gave it your best shot!

Samuel: rock solid in defence and stealth like speed. You would manage to make surprise attacks and come out of nowhere to make a great tackle. You were always keen for goalie and were always giving everything your best shot. You certainly knew how to keep us on our toes. Great work!

Cooper: such a great all-rounder. Always focused on the task at hand no matter where you found yourself on the field. You could see the thought you were putting into your game and always tried so hard to do your best! Well done!

Jayce: you are a superstar! You are such a kind and thoughtful kid and a pleasure to coach. You have 110% in everything you did either at training or on the pitch. A great natural defender with some solid boots. You have a never give up attitude and always encouraged your team!

It was a great season for the boys, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this season coaching them. A great bunch of kids and a supportive team of parents and family. You all made this year easy and fun. I hope all the boys continue next year with the same amount of enthusiasm, determination, and passion as they have displayed this year. Enjoy a short break before we are back again for another awesome season of soccer at the Eagles. It has been an amazing journey and I’ll see you all soon!
